Israel’s most crucial occupied territories are the US and Europe, and it is these that must be liberated from their control before we can think about really helping Gaza, the West Bank, or occupied Jerusalem. It’s not rabbit hole conspiracy stuff. It is history and, social, geopolitical reality. Israel has spent decades positioning itself as kingmaker, and spreading tendrils of soft power, throughout the western world, making itself both arbiter of and participant in that empire.
And this would be fine were it not for the fact that it was and is all in service to a project of displacement, ethnic cleansing, and carceral imperial rule. And the establishment West is complicit in it, in fact, even eager for it, because Israel’s history and project is their history and project. All of these polities had similar brutal, exploitative births. And their intertwined systems operate in the same ways. Exclusion, fortification, exploitation, extraction, policing, and military shock.
It’s no different than Russia’s project in Eastern Europe and in Africa. Israel’s just more suave in how they operate. More pretty talk and establishing abstract boundaries of inclusion and exclusion, less flamboyant exhibitionism. Israel and the West reserve their overt militarism for the ‘other,’ for marginalized people, usually people of color. White supremacy and colonialism and imperialism never died. They live on, in Israel, in Europe, and in the US. This is the shape of the problem.
Parading your nuclear weapons is a bit like taking your dick out at Walmart. I mean, sure, it proves that you have a dick, and indicates that you might actually use it if given the opportunity. But it reveals a certain something about yourself. Like walking onto the party supply aisle, whipping it out, and screaming to all assembled “I HAVE A DICK–I MIGHT USE IT!” It just reeks of ‘this is it, man, this is all I got if they don’t believe me it’s just social annihilation, man, fuck’ 🤪
And, for the sake of cognitive and ethical consistency, the difference between the Ukraine and Israel situations is Ukraine is an existential defense of a people, who agreed to be effectively disarmed in exchange for western security guarantees, against eradication. Israel is a colonial project that’s been ethnically cleansing Palestine for nearly a century. Israel is the occupier trying to crush an indigenous resistance in order to take the land they live on. Apples n’ oranges. Putins n’ Yahus.
My view is no military aid for anybody. It’s often ineffective, used for purpose without adequate checks on principle or legality, you’re party to a war without control over it, and the process is corrupt as shit. If a war needs to be fought, send your military, that has full accountability to the people who paid for the weapons, to fight it. Evil is defeated. You shrink the military back down to training / logistic-ready levels. That’s how states worked before capitalist empires were a thing.
Israel shouldn’t get anything, at all, because they’re an apartheid state based totally on the concept of ethnically cleansing an entire region, controlled by a theocratic fascist government. It’s like a meaner Iran full of white people with US connections and interests. As to Ukraine, I support the aid because that’s all the wormy fucktards here and in Europe will do because they’re afraid and corrupt. It’s better than nothing. But eventually, you will have to actually fight that war. Be ready.

If you want that journalist being held in Russia back, your best bet is to send some guys to go in and get him. The more you dignify regimes like Putin’s Russia with diplomatic courtesies and recognition of legitimacy, the worse they will behave. If you were truly an exceptional state, your rules would be the only rules that matter. But, of course, you aren’t. You’re so terrified that the construct is failing that you have to prop up dictatorships everywhere simply to legitimize the model. Sad.
Warm wishes for the victims of the attack in Moscow. It sucks when theocratic extremist militants attack people in your country, doesn’t it? Early word is it was IS, but info about the happenings in Russia should always be allowed to thaw a bit before being taken as gospel. Anyway, I will say that maybe if the Kremlin had been more concerned with internal security, and less with playing empire abroad, this might not have happened. Weeks of warning from the US, even. Thoughts and prayers.
