I lived in a tent for a while as a kid. Lemme tell ya, nothing greets an unwanted visitor to a tent like a broken beer bottle 😃

It has been my experience that people who issue ultimatums after already having had their asses whooped multiple times already know that they have lost, and are only trying to save face as they transition to their next failure, as the token legionaries that they are in the bastion of mediocrity that serves the banality of evil.

The flip side of student movement effectiveness is, of course, the ease with which wealthy reactionaries can mobilize people against it. What does a ‘student’ do all day, anyway?! They produce no profit, no widgets! The ‘day’s exploitation for a day’s pittance’ crowd can hate them for their physical leisure. Thinkin’ ain’t work. The cop hates them for actually doing something worthwhile with their lives. Mass torture is a proven means of casting out the devil. Heliocentrism is obviously fake.

About building a fire. Fire needs two things: fuel and oxygen. Kindling a flame is fairly easy. Making it grow in a controlled, sustained manner is more challenging. It needs to breathe and it needs to out-gas. Too much oxygen too quickly and it will burn itself out. Too little fuel and the flame dies. Keeping it going means tending it consistently and letting it tell you when it’s ready to grow larger. It’s akin to a living thing that way. Social movements are like that, too. Steady, steady 🔥
