This is my problem with alliances. You become responsible for other peoples’ bullshit, or you become out-grouped. Works the same with people or states. My feeling is, if you’re gonna do a state, it should stand on its own, self-determine, or it shouldn’t be called a state. Commerce always subordinate to the state, the state subordinate to the people, the people subordinate to ethics (not laws, laws are dogmas waiting to be abused).
Not my rambling, that’s the best and most stable state systems from across human history. When that hierarchy is off, things break, things go badly, and they always do break and go badly, ’cause people are involved and people are, for the most part, either stupid or bad. Hence my issues with the fundamental assumptions of anarchism. I get no Christmas cards. From anyone. Anyway, state alliances bad for all.
