Leaders everywhere need to learn that you cannot destroy or displace entire cities simply because you have, even a legitimate, dispute with some of the people who live there and expect no serious consequences. That has not been acceptable since the second world war, though several countries have gotten away with it since. If your first impulse is to do that, if you feel that you have the right to do that to people, that’s pathological and it says more about you than it does about your enemies.
