Remember the paradox of egalitarianism: that it comes pre-packaged with the sociopolitical avenues and machinery of its own descent into authoritarianism and destruction. Going through the motions of elections does not a genuine democracy make, and justice has as little to do with law as the spectacle of the ballot box has to do with egalitarianism. Democracy is a process, true, but it is more. It is, in whatever context it would be exercised, a commitment to a set of practices and ideals. Authoritarianism can be very unjust, but an authoritarian, unjust regime simply procedurally masquerading as democracy moreso. Beware simplicity in concept and practice.
