Lots of places throughout history and in the contemporary world deal with collective trauma as a simple fact of life. America is different, though. Here, it’s like we’re all on a reality show about collective, systemic trauma, and people sell advertising and merch. It’s totally preventable but we don’t prevent it because what happens in the overall plot doesn’t matter at all so long as the show keeps making money 😐
