Listening to the news in the West is funny. Every day, without exception, there is this pervasive undertone of ‘something must be done,’ but, of course, something is never done because the goal is not actual progress. The goal is to absolve the reporter, the listener, and the interviewee of responsibility. Like a neoliberal, secular confession session. The entire liberal project is a failure because you do not alter power’s behavior by begging the powerful to change. And so our world worsens.
