The argument that helping Ukraine resist Russian aggression somehow takes something away from Americans is not only ridiculous, it is disingenuous petty politics at its worst.  We should help Ukraine finish it, however long and however much it takes to do that.  There is, however, a nuanced argument to be had about the requirement of a military situation in order to elicit U.S. government action or assistance, particularly since it structurally murders its own people every day through corruption, willful ideological neglect, or just plain greed.
