Our job is not to adore the personages of the mighty, nor to celebrate what they mistakenly perceive as ‘their’ victories.  Our job is to relentlessly give them shit until they do what we say, and then to demand more when they finally do it.  That is how a democracy is meant to function.  If it is not functioning in this way, it is not really a democracy.
