So, I been thinkin’ ^^
As ironic (and hilarious) as I find the present reality in which the political factions and polity that swore elite fealty to capitalism are now being utterly destroyed by capitalism, sometimes rather personally, as the so-called ‘town square’ of Twitter transforms into a mechanism for disinformation and right wing propaganda, I cannot in good conscience continue to use the platform. It is, as they say, no longer a place of honor (even compared to what it once was), and I feel like even my meager and likely insignificant presence there would be a gesture of support for everything that I stand against.
I believe there is a thirty-day countdown after deactivation, if they’re still rolling like the old days, so my content will be on there (and on all my other socials) until that timer expires. After that, I’m out. I will also not be posting further to Twitter. You can still find me on all of my other, listed platforms of choice, wherever achrilock is sold.
To my Twitter mutuals (some of whom I admire greatly) I really appreciate your condescending to my acquaintance. To the fantastic and amazing people I’ve interacted with over there, thanks for listening to what I had to say, and for not insta-blocking XD. I can’t keep supporting something that I feel like is being used toward negative ends. I told myself I would wait and see, and not make any snap judgments, but it’s been less than a week and it’s already clear to me where things are headed. And this will, as I indicated this morning, have dire implications for all of us, and for our polity. I would encourage you all to consider other social media options, and what of yourselves you are giving up for the access and connectivity that Twitter offers all of us. For me, the price of admission is now too high, ethically.
Our public squares should not be owned by billionaires, particularly not by right wing billionaires. That is a recipe for rapid decay and sociopolitical collapse.
Kk, that’s all I gotta say. Good evening. ☺
